Academic Advising
The process of academic advising is a two-way interaction where the advisee and the advisor work together to achieve a common goal. Both the advisee and the advisor have responsibilities to fulfill in order for the process to work. Here is some information so you will know what your advisor will expect of you and what you can expect of your advisor.
The Registrar’s Office strongly recommends students meet with their advisor prior to registration. You may want to create a tentative schedule before meeting with your advisor to have something to work from. During advising, you can work with your advisor to solidify your plans for the next semester and to help create a plan for your overall college career. You can print a scheduling worksheet (PDF) to record your tentative schedule. If you are not sure who your advisor is, you can check your profile in Self Service.
